A taste of: Japan (Osaka, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Aso, and more Tokyo)

OSAKA

Okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury pancake)

Takoyaki (octopus balls)

Shinkansen -- Bullet Train

HIROSHIMA

We were there for less than a day and the weather was horrible so unfortunately this is my only picture.

TOKYO

Gonpachi -- The restaurant where Kill Bill was filmed

Akihabara (Electric Town)

We went to the @Home maid cafe, one of the many in Akihabara.  We were not allowed to take photos of the maids or the decor.  Luckily we at least got to go home with a couple of polaroid souvenirs taken of us with our maid, Hakase.

We were permitted to take photos of the food and drinks.
We got to request the image we wanted our maid to draw on our coffees--so cute!

Another cat cafe

These pictures are from the last half of our visit to Japan. We tried to cover quite a lot of area in just over a week.  We were in Osaka for a couple of days and had a wonderful time there.  It is known as Japan's food capital, and as you can probably tell from the photos, we did do a lot of eating there. We spent a day each in Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Aso.  We returned to Tokyo for a few more days, staying in a couple of different neighbourhoods, trying to do all the things we did not get to do the first time.  It was obvious that we had to visit another cat cafe as well as some other themed  restaurants.  Throughout our trip we ended up spending quite a lot of time travelling by train but at least they were comfortable, super fast, and very cool looking.

What a wonderful country. It would have been great if we had more time to explore it more thoroughly from top to bottom. Now we just have an excuse to go back!
